I learned to quilt in 2006 with a lady in my area. The class was held in an antiques mall in my town and we were only two students and the teacher. We learned to piece and hand quilt. The other girl wanted to learn because she was pregnant and wanted to make a quilt for her baby. I have no idea if she kept quilting. I wanted to learn because I had always been attracted to patchwork but never had the opportunity to take a class before. We made a small sampler and before I finished it, I was buying fabric to make a king plus size quilt for my oldest son. I was hooked.
I had sold some fabric before Etsy, just for the fun of it. I mean, I would buy fabric that I liked and then sold it mainly because I could not use as much as I had. When I first opened the shop in 2009, I started selling my handmade items, but I did not know anything about selling online. It took me quite a long time to actually getting serious about it, and some more time to learn enough to make sales. Now, I am always amazed that customers from all over the world find me and buy from me. I feel like a drop in the ocean, but miraculously people reach my shop. So far, the only continent I have not reached is Antarctica. I guess the people staying there do not sew, they just do science. Or maybe they take their supplies with them before they go.
Anyway, so here I am with my fabrics, ready to send them to you if you would so like. I carry premium quality fabrics for quilting, clothing and home decor. I also have some notions and interfacing. My shop grows slowly but steadily, all thanks to you. I run my business from a separate space in my home. There is no smoking here, and the only animals are my husband and myself.
I have another shop on Etsy where I sell my handmade items: LaAntiguaArtisan.etsy.com. If you go over, you will see some of the fabrics in action.
Thank you for stopping by, it is a pleasure to meet you. Oh, and Happy Sewing and Quilting!
